Occupy the PGA and Benton Harbor PD May 24

For Immediate Release

May 24, Occupy the PGA event

Contact Rev. Edward Pinkney

Mass Demonstration to Protest the PGA Tournament and
the Benton Harbor Police Department

The march against the Benton Harbor Police Department originally scheduled for March 1 was postponed until May 24 and combined with the Occupy the PGA annual event.
Karrington Penny must have Justice!

A NUMBER OF groups, churches and community activists along with the Black Autonomy Network Community Organization (BANCO) will be protesting the Benton Harbor Police Department to represent the best interest of the community. The issues range from poor police service, destruction of the black family, and the extraordinarily high incarceration rate of black residents in Benton Harbor. The Benton Harbor Police Department is out of touch with the black community.

The Benton Harbor Police Department has targeted the black community and must quit endorsing destructive and unfair behavior by police officers.

The only word that can define the gross negligence of the Benton Harbor Police Department is betrayal.

The Benton Harbor Police Department is corrupt from the top to the bottom. We do not believe the police department has ever been concerned with serving and protecting black people in the community.

Demands
We demand Justice for Karrington Penny;
We demand a complete investigation of the murder of Karrington Penny;
We demand an investigation into the deaths of Timothy (Bulldog) Allen, Toby Williams, Edward Hurse, Dewayne Flowers, Eric McGinnis, and many others;
We demand the removal of Det. Wes Smigielski from Benton Harbor Police Department;
We demand the Benton Harbor Police Department be dissolved, because it does not serve the black community.

National Network In Action invites you to a Black History Month Celebration in Mississippi Fresno, California, at New Light for New Life Church of God. We are bringing truth and life to a community that is in the grip of racism. International Civil Rights Leader, Rev. Dr. Floyd D. Harris Jr. is founder of the National Network In Action, a Civil and Human Rights Organization, and the Assistant Pastor of New Light for New Life Church of God.

Ms. Anita Wills from Oakland, Ca is a Writer and Author of several books, Notes and Documents of Free Persons of Color (first and second edition), Pieces of the Quilt The Mosaic of an African American Community, and Black Minqua The Life and Times of Henry Green. The books are about the history of America and Ms. Wills ancestors who were Free and Slave and she will be speaking on African American History at New Light For New Life Church of God on Sunday February 9, 2014 as the main speaker. As the original people on this planet, African Americans were the originators of Religion, Science, and Education. It is okay to be proud of your people and to speak of their contributions. The history of African Americans here in California includes Colonial Allensworth the Black Panthers, and the Civil Rights Movement. Joining us will be Dionne and Cary Downs, whose son, James Rivera was murdered by police in Stockton California and Cyndi Mitchell the sister of Mario Romero shot and killed in Vallejo California. Yes we are still being hunted down and killed, just like in slavery days. We will go from talking about the past to talking about our present situation. Hope to see you all there! Notes and Documents of Free Persons of Color (including the Revised Edition), Pieces of the Quilt The Mosaic of An African American Family, and Black Minqua
